      WHAT IS MORGAN’S YEARBOOK?
It is 76 page directory containing month-by-month listing of over 1000 events involving veteran, vintage and classic cars, commercial vehicles, motor cycles, tractors, buses, stationary engines, airplanes, steam propelled vehicles and includes autojumbles. It covers Northern and Central England, North and Mid-Wales and the whole of Scotland
It shows event name, date, location and who to contact.
Now in its 17th year, it is published in early February each year by York Vikings Rotary Club (Registered Charity no. 1078432) which donates all the profits to good causes. These have totalled over £200,000 over the last 10 years.
8000 copies are printed each year. It costs only £5.00 (inc posting)

Only just discovered your website. There are plenty of us bus enthusiasts that have a wider interest in road transport than our fascination with double-deckers might suggest! I will be keeping an eye on your site from now on and will even try to join up as a member! Derek Perry (model bus manufacturer).

I received a membership reminder on which I paid the sum of £20 on 5th June 2014. I have recently received another reminder in the sum of £10. Please can you explain why I should receive two separate forms each asking for a different amount. Thank you.

      Dear RRTHA members,

I am currently engaging on research for a postdoctoral project on the history of India’s automotive industry since the 1940s. One of my interests is in the collaboration between Hindustan Motors and Morris Motors roughly since the time of the Second World War. The production of the Ambassador car, which was modelled on an earlier Morris car, has only just ceased in 2014.

I think I have found a number of relevant material on this cooperation, but I would like to dig some further and uncover new documentation which could also bring up new perspectives on this cooperation.

My question is whether members of your association know more about the Morris company and its interests in the Indian market. Where could I find more information on this specific connection to India? Are there any publication by Morris on India or its cooperation partner? I would be very grateful if you could let me know.

      Best wishes,
      Stefan Tetzlaff

From Graham Boyes and Richard Storey:

The archival records of Morris Motors can be searched on The National Archives website.

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ is the address of its ‘Discovery’ catalogue. Click on advanced search. Against Exact word or phrase enter ‘morris motors’. This will bring up 967 file references, not just in The National Archives, but also in other collections, particularly at

University of Warwick, Modern Records Centre
        Coventry History Centre
        British Motor Museum, Gaydon

If you then add ‘india’ against ‘Any of these words’ the 967 references are reduced to 6.

Additionally the London School of Economics’ Archives Department holds the uncensored transcripts of interviews carried out by PWS Andrews and Elizabeth Brunner for their The Life of Lord Nuffield (1955). It is suggested that you should read this book.

Hi Julie, just let us know approximately how many vehicles you will bring so we can organise space. The cars will be in Dylan Thomas Square, with entrances at the Waterfront Museum and the Pump House. John
